Google has launched AI Overviews, its AI-generated search summary feature, in France. Users can now see AI-generated answers directly in search results and continue with follow-up questions through AI Mode.
However, publishers are concerned that users may receive answers without clicking through to news websites or other online sources. Some studies suggest that AI-generated summaries may reduce clicks on top-ranking links by approximately 25% to 30%.
This development shows that AI visibility is becoming a major issue across Europe, particularly in relation to website traffic, copyright, regulation, and source attribution.
